You can make your Windows XP Shutdown Faster than ever.i.e You can make your shut down process a little bit faster by the following trick.
1. Open registry editor using the command 'regedit' in 'Run' found in start menu.
2. Export (right click >Export) the following keys and save it to a safer place. (don't delete it)
HKEY CURRENT USER\Control Panel\Desktop
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control.
3. Open NOTEPAD, copy
and paste the following to Notepad.

3. Save the file and close Notepad.
4. Change the extension of the file from .txt to .reg .
